What are some ways that I can get involved at AHS? 

  • Joining or creating clubs, getting involved with a sports team, or even taking part in specific classes (from Biotech to Drama) will allow you to be engaged at Aragon.
  • Make sure to attend events you hear about as well! This could be leadership events held during lunch, or an event being offered by a club/teacher.

Can I join a club when I’m at Aragon?
You definitely can! There are over 60 clubs you can join at Aragon, in numerous categories:cultural, academic, service, social, STEM (science, tech). Please see a list of our active clubs.

What are athletics like at Aragon? 
AWESOME :)  The Aragon Athletic Department recognizes that different sports have varying levels of difficulty in regard to who makes or does not make the team.  It is the primary goal of the Aragon Athletic Department to provide a place for any student who wishes to participate in athletics. Oftentimes, that place is with the sports that accommodate the most athletes and/or have fewer students trying out than the sport can reasonably accommodate.

I’m artistic. What are some ways that I can get involved in the AHS community? 
There are so many opportunities for you! You can join Design Tech Club, Tea Club, Newspaper. or our  Street Activism Art Club. You can take one of our many art classes,  and even volunteer to decorate your grade’s “mural” for rallies! We have so many different activities for students with so many diverse interests to get involved in and make an impact on our AHS community!

How do students stay in touch with what’s going on in the community?

  • Weekly “live” announcements and video announcements are run by Aragon’s Leadership students and our Video Production class.
  • Social Media Platforms (instagram)
  • Canvas! Check out the dashboard for regularly updated information.
  • Community CARES time - Weekly discussions led by Aragon Leadership students to discuss our school values: what they are, how they help us, how they build community.

What platform does Aragon use for grades and communication?
Aragon uses Canvas to update grades and assignments online. Not only does it provide an easy to use and organized system to track academic progress, it also houses other resources for students to use such as school announcements, tech help, counselor office hours and an efficient way to contact teachers. The Canvas dashboard also houses all sorts of information about student life.

What is the Leadership? 
Leadership is a program that students can apply to that teaches many important life skills (time management, task management, marketing, big picture and small detail design, communication, etc.) while positively contributing to awesomeness that is the AHS community. 

How many leadership classes are there?
Aragon has the most robust student leadership program in the district!
AHS offers 3 different classes! Leadership, Renaissance Leadership, and Link Crew! 

  • Leadership plans events the build school culture
  • Renaissance plans event that create a positive school climate that helps ALL students feel seen, valued and respected
  • Link Crew is a top-notch transition program that acclimates students to the rigors of high school and helps students navigate new learning experiences--emotionally, socially and academically. Since the program serves our 9th grade and transfer students, new-to-Aragon students can not apply to be a part of this program until they have been a member of the AHS community for one full year.

How many students are involved in leadership?
110--if you want to be a leader and help to define and shape Aragon’s school culture, we want you! :) 
Seats are saved in both Leadership and Renaissance  classes for incoming 9th grade students.

What is the Leadership Program’s purpose at Aragon?
The purpose of the Leadership program is to help students and staffulty enjoy their time at AHS! Leadership executes events that define and establish our school culture, Renaissance ensures a positive school atmosphere, or climate, for all members of our community. Link Crew makes sure that our newest--and therefore, most vulnerable--students feel supported (not scared). Our upperclassmen demonstrate that AHS is a safe community where the older students look out for and mentor our younger students. We are service-based and focus all our work on making AHS a home we all love!

What does the Leadership class do?
The Leadership class aims to represent the student body, and is the home of Aragon’s elected officers--ASB students (voted in by the student body) and Class Council Officers (voted in by the class).. One of Leadership’s main goals is to create and improve the “traditional,” spirited events throughout the year, such as all-school rallies, dances, and more! Leadership plans events such as spirit weeks, Club Fairs, all-school Carnivals, rallies, dances, and other fun activities.

What is Renaissance Leadership?
“Renaissance” Leadership is the rebirth of how we look at our school community as a place that is safe for all students--how do we ensure that all students feel seen, recognized and appreciated for who they are. Renaissance leadership works to create a positive school climate with frequent events that are geared towards improving the student and community relations, and to enhance the student experience while ON campus! Positivity and connection are what we do! Events that Renaissance Leadership throws include our all-school Lip Dub, Pop-Up Thrift Stores (a part of our green initiatives), Student and Staffulty Recognition events, Friendsgiving Week, Our Toy Story Toy Drive and more.

What is Link Crew? What is LC’s purpose? 
Link Crew is a program that works to support and mentor freshmen in their journey through their first year of high school. All freshmen are given upperclassmen leaders that offer mentorship and aid in the new setting of high school. Aragon is one of over 3,000 schools that make up the thriving Link Crew network nationwide that strives to promote inclusivity and connection, working to have a unified community.

    • School wide Toy Drive in collaboration with the Samaritan House and Fire Department to provide families with toys and gifts during the Holiday Season

  • Tie-Dye Event
    • Once a year, to tie-dye shirts to show support for the LGBTQ+ community
    • Students can also dye their shirts to their “class color” (blue, pink, purple, green) to show spirit for their grade level during rallies and football games.

  • Pumpkin Decorating Event
    • Usually held in Center Court, where new Dons participate in decorating pumpkins with their leaders to celebrate Halloween!
  • Cookies & Cram
    • A great way for Link Crew leaders to bond with and help their new Dons in studying before finals week! 
  • Staffulty/Student Luncheons
    • Students have the opportunity to interact with a teacher over a slice of pizza during lunch, once a semester. It will help them bond with their teachers and allow them to open up and find a trusted adult on campus.

How do Link Crew Leaders support new Dons?
To maximize support, leaders are there to answer any questions their new Dons may have. They are also meant to just be a familiar face on campus that our new students can trust and go to if they need support or someone to talk to. Additionally, Link Crew Leaders host events throughout the year to stay connected with their freshmen groups.
