PE Department Policies

Physical Education emphasizes instruction in the areas of physical fitness, socialization, teamwork, sportsmanship, health concepts, movement skills, and the knowledge needed to participate in a variety of games and activities. Additionally, this two year course aims to promote increased self-confidence through the use of goal setting skills and the understanding of the importance of the benefits of life-long wellness.

Excuse from Physical Education. When a student is to be excused from PE class for 4 days or less, a written note from a parent/guardian is to be given directly to the PE teacher. If a student is to be excused for 5 days or more, the Health Aide must receive written instructions from the student’s MD, NP, or DO, please use THIS FORM. A written excuse from the physician is required each semester the student is to be excused. Please see the SMUHSD PE Restricted Activity/Medical Policy for more details.

Uniforms. All students must wear the required P.E uniform to class. This is an Aragon Physical Education t-shirt and solid black shorts, or a solid red crew neck t-shirt and plain black basketball knee length shorts. Black or gray sweats are acceptable for cold weather. Athletic style shoes are mandatory. No boots, street shoes, slippers, or open shoes/sandals or open heels are allowed. Yoga pants, leggings and tights are not allowed. Uniforms may be purchased at the beginning of the year. Loaner clothes are available for students to borrow once every two weeks from your students teacher.

Locks and Lockers. Lockers are provided for all students. Students are provided a combination lock to secure their belongings. It is advised that students store their day clothes and backpacks in the locker during class. Aragon is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Leave all valuables at home.
