Course Selection Process Information for current 9th, 10th, 11th grade families for the 2026-27 school year
Aragon's Administration and Counseling Department held the Course Selection Information Session presentation in the Aragon Theater in January 2026. Please view our slides from the presentation here (English) and (Spanish) to learn about the class registration process for the upcoming school year. Students are choosing classes in February, during in-class presentations by their counselors.

Summary of Course Selection Process Spring Dates: Planning for 2026-27
To help families feel prepared and informed, we encourage you to review the Course Catalog together. The catalog provides detailed descriptions of each course, outlines prerequisites, and explains expectations so students can make thoughtful choices aligned with their interests and academic goals. Taking time to explore these options in advance will help ensure a smooth and successful scheduling process. The Course Catalog is here, as well as on the menu on the left.
FEB 3th - 11TH: Course Selection and Aeries Registration in Social Studies Classes for Rising Class of 2027, Class of 2028, and Class of 2029
FEB 23rd - MARCH 20th: 1:1 meetings with students in the Library, during their Math classes
MARCH 14th: Math Placement Test at AHS, 9am (BHS March 11th)
MARCH 18th: World Language Placement Test, 4pm
MARCH 20th: Last day for ALL current students to submit their course selections
APRIL 15TH: FINAL DATE for course change requests for current students

AP/Honors Coursework Expectations for specific classes
Schedule Requirements, Time Management, and AP/Honors Course Commitment Form (for all grade levels to complete and return to counselors during their 1-to-1 meetings in February and March).
Concurrent Enrollment: Students MUST submit an Outside Course Preapproval form in order to be able to take a course at an outside institution. Please note that students accelerating are NOT guaranteed placement in a higher level class at Aragon for the following school year, and the form explains which courses can and cannot go on a SMUHSD Transcript.
