Organización de Padre Latinos de Aragon (OPLA)
La Organización de Padres Latinos de Aragon High School (OPLA) tiene como propósito fundamental informar, integrar, apoyar y empoderar a todas las familias Latinas de AHS en nuestro idioma. Buscamos que las familias participen en la comunidad escolar y apoyen a sus hijos para lograr su éxito académico y social al máximo durante los años de la preparatoria.
¿Por qué participar?
- Reciba el respaldo necesario para navegar el sistema educativo.
- Manténgase informado sobre eventos y reuniones comunitarias con temas que nuestras familias prefieren.
- Conéctese con otras familias latinas, participando en nuestras actividades.
- Involúcrese en la escuela para poder ayudar a sus hijos a alcanzar el éxito escolar.

Hispanic/Latino students represent nearly 30% of the students at Aragon. OPLA focuses on bringing important information about school programs, college readiness, application and scholarships, as well as providing information to teachers and administrators to better meet student needs.

We meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month beginning in September at 6:30 p.m. in the Library. At each meeting you can expect to:

Stay updated on current and upcoming school events

Receive important information to help your student succeed academically

Receive important data from tests to see how students are performing

Have an opportunity to network with other parents and exchange and discuss ideas that will help your students be a part of the Aragon community

Scholarship Requirements
- Must be a Latino senior student
- Must have experienced adversity that impacted academic or personal life
- Must have applied or plan to apply to: A trade school A community college A 4-year university
Application Instructions
- Write an essay describing: The adversity you faced and how you overcame it
- Submit your essay via email to: Mr. Edwin Martinez – emartinez@smuhsd.org
Essay Guidelines
- Essays will be reviewed using AI detection tools
- Essays may be written in English or Spanish
Awarded students will be notified via email and need to be present to receive it Friday, May 15, 2026, during the Latino Seniors Award Night Event.
