Dear Students and Parents,

I hope you are still enjoying a relaxing Summer Vacation!   The start of the new school year is just around the corner, and at Aragon High School we are working hard to get the 2023-24 school year off to a great start.   With that in mind, here are a few reminders for parents and students to ensure that Orientation, JumpStart, and the first weeks of the school year go smoothly for you.

1 – July 2023 Aeries Confirmation Completion.  Every year, we require families to login to Aeries to update their contact and emergency information.  New letters with codes were mailed out from the District Office in mid-June.  Families who have not yet completed this process will receive a separate notification.  Please be advised that students will not get their class schedules - or be allowed to attend classes - until this information is updated.

If you have difficulty completing this process (or if you didn’t receive your new code letter), please contact the District’s Office of Student Services at (650) 558-2251.

2 – Student & Family Handbook.  Students and Families should make it a priority to review the Student & Family Handbook prior to the beginning of the school year.  You will find a LOT of information there, including the following:

  • Principal’s Greeting
  • AHS Mission & Core Values
  • School Information: Bell Schedules, Communications, Campus Maps, Health Services, Absence Reporting
  • Academic Requirements & Programs
  • Behavior Expectations and Code of Conduct
  • District Policies

3 – Communication.  New families should create accounts in Aeries and Canvas after the first day of school to access student grade and assignment information as well as news updates from the school.  Most families will not be able to create accounts until the school year has begun, as student course information is not uploaded to our systems until the night before the first day of school.  Weekly parent updates are sent through ParentSquare, and families are welcome to follow our Google Calendars for updated information.

  • Add Google Calendars:
    • Login to your Google account
    • Click the link of the calendar you would like to add
      AHS Bell Schedule

  • Create Parent/Guardian Accounts - go to our Parent Portal.
    • Aeries: Attendance, Transcripts, Schedules
    • Canvas: Student Assignments, Current Grades Information
    • ParentSquare: Communications from the school
    • Anonymous Alerts: Anonymous reporting of concerning behaviors for school support.
    • SportsNet: Complete Athletic Packets for your student athlete.  Must be updated annually.
    • TotalRegistration: Register and pay for Advanced Placement Tests (if your student is enrolled in an AP course and is planning to test in the spring).

4 – Mark your calendars.  Keep the following important dates on hand (see website for additional details):

5 – 9th Grade, New Student Orientation, and JumpStart.  Please refer to our website for information.

6 – Drop-Off Locations.
Construction projects will continue into the Fall 2023 Semester.  With the Baseball & Flex Field Project underway until January 2024, the parking spots on the access road will be closed and used as staging & parking areas for contractors.  The walkway between the baseball field and the tennis courts is also being improved with seating and shade structures - and remains closed until further notice.

Full campus maps and drop-off information will be sent to families next week.

7 – Bell Schedules!  We will continue to make up dates over the course of the school year to our Bell Schedule document, linked here.

We’re looking forward to a fantastic start to the 2023-24 school year - and I can't wait to see you and your students on campus in the coming weeks!

Sincerely,
Valerie Arbizu, Principal
