School Community Norms - Aragon CARES!
School Community Norms - Aragon CARES!
In the Fall of 2019, members of the Aragon High School staff and faculty joined with teams across the San Mateo Union High School District to reevaluate how we work with students - including a review of our expectations for behaviors on campus. The result: the formation of a Tier 1 Team who worked with staff, teachers, administrators, and students for the 2019-20 school year to determine our collective behavior expectations. We added a bit to our online expectations of each other when we went into ‘Distance Learning’ mode for the 2020-21 school year. The following chart illustrates our Aragon CARES model, and the behaviors associated with each expectation.
To support students with these behavioral expectations, the AHS staff adopted the following Tiered Matrix for managing responses to behaviors. The general guidelines are as listed below - teachers will work with students on Tier 1 Behaviors initially; all chronic Tier 1 Behaviors that have not improved with teacher intervention will be referred for Administrative Support. All Education Code violations will be referred to the administrative team for immediate intervention and action (Tier 2+ behaviors).
